AD: The latest Flyer Homes listing is the shiniest apple in the orchard

All photos: Todd Gill, Flyer Homes

Some apples are better made into a pie topped with a golden brown lattice crust or brown sugar crumble. Others are best served covered in salted caramel and served on a stick, while some are most suited to pureeing into sweet apple sauce sprinkled with just a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, or pork chop.

But some apples stay on the tree just long enough, ripen in the sun to the point of perfection, hide amongst the leaves protected from the occasional black-capped chickadee or very hungry caterpillar, until they become the shiniest, most irresistible apples in the orchard. Our latest listing is one of those. You’ll want to pluck it from the tree and just go to town on it.

Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on 2621 Granny Smith Ave.

Address: 2621 Granny Smith Ave, Springdale, AR
Price: $145,000
Beds: 3
Baths: 2 full
Size: 1444 SqFt
Built: 2001
Exterior features: Newer 30-year architectural shingles
Interior features: Totally remodeled, split floor plan
Set up a showing: Call 479-601-5453.

Yes, doing an apple metaphor about a house in a subdivision called Apple Orchard with all apple-related street names is kind of on the nose, but sometimes it just makes sense to grab for the low hanging fruit. Dammit! Just did it again. Sorry, let’s continue …

The current owners bought this home back in 2012 and have been shining it against the front of their shirts ever since. Along the way they have replaced interior and exterior lighting and hardware, the carpet, the engineered wood flooring and the blinds. And the interior has just been repainted from floor to ceiling in every room.

The kitchen has been spruced up as well, with freshly finished cabinets and new hardware, a new sink and faucet, a new dishwasher and the stove and microwave are only four years old.

At it’s core, the home has a smart split floor plan with a cozy gas log fireplace in the family room and an open, airy layout in the main living area. Outside is a built-to-last, brick and vinyl exterior and some recently added landscaping and privacy fencing, all located in a popular but affordable neighborhood surrounded by schools, supermarkets, restaurants and more.

You could say there is not a single worm in this apple. Of course, nor would there be. What people commonly refer to as “worms” are really some type of insect larvae, like caterpillar, grub or apple maggot. Anyway, as I was saying, there is not one apple maggot to be found in this apple. The very definition of “out with the old and in with the new”, most every surface in the house has been replaced, from the new floors to the new 30-year architectural shingles, for 100% larvae-free results!

If the mere thought of apples or apple-based products turns your stomach, there is a chance this house and neighborhood may not be for you. But for the rest of you normal folks, have a look at the photos below. Then call Jay Downing at 479-601-5453 to set up a showing.

AD: David Sedaris coming to Walton Arts Center Oct. 24

NPR humorist, New York Times Bestselling Author and three-time Grammy Award® nominee, David Sedaris returns to Walton Arts Center on Tuesday, Oct. 24 to read selections from new and unpublished works with his signature playful, deadpan prose.

Fans of Sedaris praise him as a master of satire – he slices through cultural euphemism and political correctness with ease. These incisive social critiques make him one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today. Entertainment Weekly even dubbed him the preeminent humorist of his generation.

Sedaris is the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, including Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames and Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, each of which became an immediate bestseller. He’s also recognized for his regular contributions to the NPR show This American Life.

Sedaris has published two books this year alone. The first, entitled Theft By Finding: Diaries (1977-2002), was released in May 2017 and the other, David Sedaris Diaries: A Visual Compendium, came out this month.

This isn’t the first time Sedaris has taken the stage at Walton Arts Center. In fact, this is the sixth time for Sedaris to visit Northwest Arkansas – and each time the show is in high demand. If you’ve never seen David Sedaris, or even if you have, this is a show that’s guaranteed to make you laugh. Tickets start at $46 and can be purchased here.

AD: Introducing FanSpotz – A New Parking Exchange App for Game Days in Fayetteville

Graphic: Courtesy, FanSpotz

Have you ever been stressed out about finding a parking spot at a Razorback football game? Or maybe you’ve felt the need to arrive extra early to the game or risk not getting a parking spot at all.

Finding game day parking can be difficult for several reasons: university owned spaces are limited and expensive, people are unfamiliar with the area and traffic patterns, or the plain fact that you’re trying to squeeze 100,000 people into a typically quiet neighborhood.

FanSpotz

What: A new parking exchange app helping connect college football fans looking for game day parking with property owners with space to spare.
Offers: The first 20 Parkers who list their spots for the Ark/NM State Game will receive $25. Fans who use the app during the remaining home games this season will be entered into a drawing for a Yeti cooler.

Enter FanSpotz, an innovative parking exchange app that connects college football fans looking for game day parking and property owners with space to spare. The best part – FanSpotz is a startup based right here in Northwest Arkansas and available exclusively in Fayetteville for the 2017 Razorback football season.

Here’s how it works:

  • Local property owners – referred to as “Parkers” in the app – enter their information and the desired fee for fans to park on their yard, lot or driveway.
  • Fans looking for game day parking can see all available spots in a simple, easy-to-navigate map view. Each listing shows the price of the spot and the forms of accepted payment.
  • With the tap of a button, fans can tell the Parker to reserve their spot. The app even allows for secure in-app payment upon arrival!

FanSpotz is also rewarding early users for their participation.

  • The first 20 Parkers who list their spots and enable in-app payment for the Arkansas vs. New Mexico State game on Sept. 30 will receive $25.
  • Fans who use the app during the four remaining home games will be entered into a drawing for a YETI cooler.

FanSpotz is now available to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Learn more about the app at www.fanspotz.com or follow them on Facebook.
